David Chiu: A Holder of 4 WSOP Bracelets

David Chiu was born in China on August 23, 1960 but has been living in the United States almost his entire life, making him a certified American professional poker player.

Based in Rowland Heights, California, David Chiu used to own a restaurant in Colorado. He then became a poker dealer and eventually took a job as a poker tournament specialist. His exposure to the poker industry led him to become a poker player himself. And he is not just another poker professional because this guy has already earned several World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets.

The poker public knows that David Chiu has the talent in reading the behavior of his opponents at the poker table. He claims that such talent was honed after he met a swimming accident that resulted to being partially deaf. Because of such minor disability, he has honed his skills in concentrating and reading the behavior of people. He did not know that his disability would eventually turn into an advantage. Now, David Chiu knows the meaning of the different gestures and facial expressions being projected by his opponents.

David Chiu has been active in the tournament circuit since the 1980s. And since then, he has been successfully making money finishes as well as first prize victories.

David Chiu cannot deny the fact that he is very much interested in earning WSOP bracelets because most of his contributions to the industry come from his participation in WSOP events. He has been an active WSOP player since the 12th Annual World Series of Poker tournament. And since then, he has experienced cashing in the money a number of times already. But most of all, he has experienced winning WSOP bracelets four times.

Between 1996 and 2005, David Chiu has earned four WSOP bracelets from such events as the Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven Card Stud, and Limit Hold'em games. From these victories, he was able to generate a total of US$1,150,610 prize winnings.

Aside from his active participation in WSOP events, David Chiu is also a regular player of World Poker Tour (WPT) events. Although he has not earned a WPT title yet, he already reached the final table once. This was when he joined the first season of WPT's Pro-Celebrity Invitational event. He only became the third placer, being defeated by poker professionals Jerry Buss and Layne Flack.

David Chiu has been joining other poker events too, such as the Bellagio Cup, Legends of Poker, Mirage Poker Showdown, Holiday Bonus Tournament, L.A. Poker Classic, Heavenly Hold'em, and the Californian State Poker Championship. He has already experienced numerous money finishes in these events.
